Ryan Loco - So you're already back in the gym. There's no hiatus, no break.

Houston Alexander - Nah, there's no break. If you're any type of
professional athlete, you gotta spend your time in the gym. I don't
care who you are.

RL - Looking back on the fight, is there anything you would have done
differently?

HA - You know, I'm the type of guy that moves forward, we're taught
not to move back. I think if I could do anything differently, it'd
have been to not get caught. It happens man, just a fluky thing that
happens. I know Steve was just looking out for my safety.

RL - But hey, that's 8 seconds of fame for James Irvin...did he send
you a thank you card or anything?

HA - Nah man, he didn't send me a thank you card. I'm still waiting on
an email or something. From what I understand, he wanted to meet me
out in the parking lot.

RL - I don't think he knows how those Nebraska boys roll, might not
have been the smartest idea.

HA - Who knows man, maybe something fluky would have happened outside
on the sidewalk.

RL - According to the movie "Never Back Down", it gets pretty gnarly
in the parking lot. All MMA eventually ends up in a parking lot, so be
careful.

HA - Speaking of movies, ever see that movie with Michael Jai White,
where he goes to Russia?

RL - What in the hell is Michael Jai White doing in Russia?

HA - Some mob guy wanted him to fight in prison in Russia.

RL - Is Jean Claude Van Damme getting pissed at Michael Jai White for
stealing his roles?

HA - Van Damme needs to just stick to stealing scenes, like he did in
"Breakin'". I'm a big fan of that movie, I grew up on that stuff. As
cheesy as it is, I love that movie.

RL - So growing up with all those movies, you've gotta be a big fan of
"The Last Dragon."

HA - BIG FAN.

RL - Not to sound corny, but did you ever look up to those guys, did
that kinda inspire you to want to start fighting?

HA - I got into fighting on a dare. Friend of mine dared me to get in
the ring with some guy who kept winning. Growing up, I was always a
brawler type dude, a street fighter. I wound up getting in the ring
with this guy, and I ended up winning. The promoter wanted me to come
back, and the rest is history.

RL - Well, despite it being a short fight, it was exciting, as all
your fights are. Any talks of when you might step in again?

HA - Whenever they need me, I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go right
now. Whenever they call me, I'm ready.

RL - So you're saying you could go 12 seconds right now.

HA - I can go 12 seconds, 15 seconds tops.

RL - You got that Hans Molenkamp cardio.

HA - Oh yeah...there was an article done on one of our training
sessions, they're like an hour and a half of non stop cardio.

RL - So your warm ups are regular peoples workout.

HA - Yeah, the guy who sat in on our session couldn't believe it.

RL - I believe it man, you're a specimen, and you're like 110 years
old. You look good.

HA - 110, that's it? I thought I wa 120.

RL - Man, there's always rumors flying around...Houston Alexander is
84 years old, he fought Joe Lewis...

HA - There was some hype on the internet about my fight with Joe Lewis.

RL - You're a big community guy, you have your radio show...

HA - I've been working with a lot of kids through the hip hop culture.
I grew up with hip hop. I started teaching break dancing classes
around '97. Here in Omaha, I started a new generation of kids
breakdancing. I've always done graffitti for the community, I've done
positive murals for the community. You need to get involved in the
community you live in.

RL - So you rock the shell toes, Kangol hats, track suit, throwing
down some cardboard?

HA - I rock some shell toes every once in awhile, but I left the rest
of that in the 80's.

RL - You got a big gold dookie chain? Run DMC status?

HA - The shell toes is as old school as I get.

RL - Does it ever trip you out that you're tagging up walls, and NOT
getting yelled at for it?

HA - I started bombing illegally, warehouses and trains. But when you
start doing legal murals, people know you put in work. You put your
time in. It's a good feeling.

RL - Did you have a tag name?

HA - It's Scrib...used to be Scribble.

RL - Damn, DJ Scribble stole your name...

HA - I dunno man, Scribble might be older than me...but we might have
to battle over the name.

RL - You don't go around and challenge people to street dance fights,
do you? You don't go around stomping the yard...

HA - Haha, nah man. The only thing I want to stomp are people's faces
in the ring.

RL - A lot of Triumph fans are white, and that's cool. They might not
be exposed to hip hop...I know you have your radio show, so what are
the 5 quintessential tracks that they need to listen to?

HA -

1. Public Enemy - "You're Gonna Get Yours"

2. Eric B & Rakim - "Check Out My Melody"

3. KRS-ONE - "My Philosophy"

4. N.W.A. - "Dope Man"

5. MC Hammer - "Let's Get It Started"

RL - Damn, a Hammer reference!

HA - Hammer made it cool to entertain. He wasn't the best lyricist,
but he was an entertainer. Made it cool to dance, made it cool for you
to be different. Without Hammer, it might not have gotten as
mainstream as it did. RUN DMC made it mainstream, but Hammer made it
really really mainstream. Honorable mention goes to RUN-DMC's
"Rockbox".

RL - We love Hammer here at the office...we play "2 Legit 2 Quit" every day.

HA - Haha...

RL - Did you ever see the "Pumps n tha Bumps" video and just shake
your head like, 'What are you doing, Hammer?'"

HA - Haha...that was just Hammer trying to transition, he just picked
the wrong time to do it. he shoulda been like Too Short. Too Short may
change tracks up, but he doesn't change his style. And he stole sold a
million copies his last album.

RL - So we don't have to worry about ever seeing you in a zebra speedo...

HA - Man, the tightest thing I'm getting in are my fight shorts.

RL - We appreciate you taking the time out, I know you got a big
family you take care of.

HA - I'm kinda by myself today man, no kids around.

RL - Is it weird? When you have a day just to yourself, does it trip you out?

HA - It does trip me out man, I'm so used to yelling "Sit down!" or
"Be quiet!" It is kind of weird to have a day to myself. I try to
enjoy it.

RL - Well, thanks again for the time.

HA - What I do want to say is a big thank you to the fans. i
appreciate all the support. they're there for me, win or lose. I'm
disappointed by the last go around, I was so ready...that was just
pitiful. I appreciate the support from Triumph. A lot of other
sponsors would have dumped me after that, but it really means a lot.

RL - No problem man, it was only on Spike TV, no one saw it. We still love ya.

HA - Hahahaha...You guys better not put me in an ad with a Triumph thong!

RL - You better stop giving us ideas...
